7 more held over attack on CU teachers` bus

Police detained seven leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir of Chittagong University unit early today in connection with a crude bomb attack that left 15 university teachers three days back.

Imon Hossain, Shibir Baitul Mal (Finance) secretary of Alaol Hall, and Md Mostafa Kamal, a sathi member of CU unit, and Ansarul Haque, an activist and an informant of the party, are among the detainees, reports out Chittagong correspondent.

Hathajari police conducted a raid around 4:00am at different Shibir-dominated messes adjacent to the CU campus and detained the seven members of the pro-Jamaat student body.

“Imon and six others were held on charges of vandalising university buses and attacking the university teachers,” said Md Ismail, officer-in-charge of the Hathazari Police Station.
Of them, Imon and Kamal are the students of Journalism department of the university, the OC said.

“Ansarul, who is a staff of CU administrative building, used to inform Shibir leaders through text SMSs on campus situation before the party carries out any anarchy there,” OC Ismail said. The rest are also students of different departments of the university, police said.
