Kashem Ali appeal hearing not held
The appeal petition filed by Jamaat-e-Islami leader and Chairman of Diganta Media Corporation Mir Kashem Ali against his death penalty was not held as being absence of his lawyer Khandoker Mahbub Hosen.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order as ‘not today’ on Tuesday morning.
The others members of the bence are Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hosen and Justice Hasan Foyez Seddiqui.
It is mentionable that, The International War Crime Tribunal awarded death penalty to the top Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali, also known as a key financier of the anti-liberation party, finding him guilty in 10 of the 14 alleged crimes against humanity and other offences committed in Chittagong during the 1971 Liberation War.
