BGMEA building must be demolished
The Supreme Court has dismissed a review petition filed by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) to reconsider the verdict on demolishing multi-storey BGMEA Complex.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Sunday.
The apex court asked the BGMEA authorities to submit an application before it seeking time for demolishing the building.
The court also fixed Thursday for passing an order on the time application.
On April 3, 2011, the High Court ordered to demolish the building as it was constructed in violation of the law.
The Appellate Division on May 2 last year upheld the verdict of the High Court rejecting a leave to appeal.
The BGMEA filed a petition for a review of the top court’s verdict on December 8 last year.
