Dacoit leader killed in Tangail gunfight with RAB

An inter-district dacoit leader was killed in a gunfight when Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-12 conducted a drive at dacoits dwelling place on Sunday night in Tangail district.

Apart from two members of RAB and ten robbers were killed in this gunfight.

The incident took place at Magurata area in Sadar Upazila.

The deceased was identified as Mostofa, inhabitant of Modhupur upazila of the district.

A foreign made pistol, ten homemade arms, three bullets and equipment for breaking house were recovered from the spot.

In this connection, commander of RAB 12 and additional police superintendent Mohiuddin Farooki told Jagonews24.com that, on information RAB personnel conducted a drive at Magurata area. Sensing the presence of RAB, the members of dacoit gang exploded two hand bombs.

‘In reply RAB personnel opened fire and dacoit leader killed.  During this time two RAB members and ten dacoits were injured. They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he added.
