Five Jamaat leaders remanded for 10 days

A court here on Sunday granted 10 days` remand to five Jamaat-e-Islami leaders in two separate cases filed under anti-terrorism and money laundering acts.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Yusuf Hossain passed the order when Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (operation) of Rampura Police Station, produced them before the court with a 20-day remand prayer for each.

The remanded accused are: Gias Uddin, 55, Aminur Rahman, 57, Abul Hashem, 32, Osman Goni, 42 and Shahadur Rahman, 40.

Police arrested the five from a house at Banasree area under Rampura Police Station along with Taka 1.47 crore around 3:30pm, on Saturday for their suspected involvement in carrying out sabotage centering January 5.

Sub Inspector Mostafizur Rahman filed the two cases one under money laundering act and another under anti-terrorism act -- with Ramapura Police Station.
