Full verdict of Sayedee appeal case reaches tribunal
Copies of the full verdict of the Supreme Court in the case of Delwar Hossain Sayedee, which commuted his death sentence to life imprisonment, reached the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday.
Md Mehedi Hasan, assistant registrar-2 of the Appellate Division brought the copies to the tribunal, which had sentenced the Jamaat nayeb-e-ameer to death for committing crimes against humanity.
The Apex Court released the full verdict on December 31, 2015.
The ICT-1 on February 28, 2013, convicted Sayedee of crimes against humanity and sentenced him to death.
He was found guilty in eight of the 20 charges which included murder, rape, arson, loot, abduction and persecution in different places of Pirojpur. Sayedee filed the appeal against the death verdict on March 28, 2013.
The Appellate Division on September 17, 2014, sentenced Sayedee to imprisonment till natural death, modifying the verdict of the ICT-1.
