27 prominent persons awarded
Renowned ‘Amin Jewellers’ has honored the country’s 27 noted veterans in recognition of their significant contributions to their own fields to mark its golden jubilee.
Amin Jewellers handed over the awards to the country’s 27 intellectuals through a splendid programme at the Hall of Fame of Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital today (Saturday).
Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, attended the function as the chief guest while Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, and former Member of Parliament and Chairman of Amin Jewellers Quazi Sirazul Islam were also present as special guests.
Each of the awardees has received an honorarium of Tk 3 lakh, a medal (made with 2 bhori gold) a crest and an uttorio. They also received warm reception from about two thousand audiences at the event.
The 27 noted veterans, who received awards on the golden jubilee of Amin Jewellers, were: AKM Zakaria (Archaeologist), Professor Anisuzzaman (Educationalist and Intellectual), Ashalata Baidya (Freedom Fighter), AM Harun Ar Rashid (Scientist and Technologist), AK Azad Khan (Doctor), Kakon Bibi (Freedom Fighter), Jamilur Reza Chowdhury (Civil Engineer), Tofail Ahmed (Politician), Toab Khan (Journalist), Dwijen Sharma (Naturalist), Nurjahan Begum (Journalist), Protiva Mutsuddi (Language Soldier), Fazle Hasan Abed (Social Welfare and Development Personality), Mahadev Saha (Poet and Journalist), Murtaza Bashir (Artist), Mustafa Monowar (Artist and Cultural Personality), Jatin Sarker (Thinker and Writer), Barrister Rafiqul Haque (Lawyer), Razzak (Actor), Runa Laila (Singer), Syeeda Khanam (Photo Journalist), Serajul Islam Chowdhury (Educationalist and Intellectual), Sukumar Barua (Rhymester), Sudhin Das (Nazrul Song Singer), Syed Shamsul Haque (Poet, Playwright and Writer), Hasan Azizul Haque (Writer) and Humayun Ahmed (Writer-posthumous).
