Jamaat conspired for sabotage on Jan 5: DMP
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam conspired to do sabotage on January 5, the second anniversary of January 5 National Election, to deter the final verdict for war crimes against the party top leader Mawlana Motiur Rahman Nizami that is scheduled on January 6.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police in a written statement signed by Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md. Maruf Hosen claimed this on Saturday.
Police arrested five Jamaat leaders and activists from the capital’s Banashree with millions of Taka and some Jihadi books.
They provided the information in primary interrogation, police claimed in the statement.
It is mentioned in a written statement that, the arrestees planned to carry out deadly subversive activities on January 5 across the country to foil the appeal verdict of Jamaat leader Motiur Rahman Nizami.
The arrestees are M Gias Uddin, 55, the chief accountant of the party’s central office, M Aminur Rahman, 56, assistant accountant of the office, Abul Hashem, 32, peon of the office, Shahadatur Rahman, 43, and Osman Gani, 40.
