BFUJ expresses concern over retrenchment to media houses

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) leaders expressed deep concerns over the incidents of retrenchment of journalists in different media houses including "The Independent" and "Daily Inqilab".

In a statement, BFUJ President Altaf Mahmud and Secretary General Omar Faruk said the aforementioned newspapers have retrenched journalists indiscriminately without issuing any notice.

"Nonetheless, the owners and authorities of these institutions have been enjoying all kinds of government facilities," the statement said.

The journalists` leaders urged the concerned authorities to stop such retrenchments and to provide regular salary and allowances to the journalists.
