Indian External Affairs Secretary Joyshankar in city
Indian external affairs secretary Subramanyam Jaishankar arrived here on Thursday on a two-day official visit.
Senior foreign ministry officials received Joyshankar at Hazrat Shahjalal International airport at around 2pm.
During his two-day stay in Dhaka, the Indian external affairs secretary will discuss the proposed visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India expected in April and review areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries during the visit, foreign ministry sources said.
He is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali besides holding talks with his counterpart to finalize signing of a number of agreements.
“The talks will include issues like storage of basin water for irrigation purpose and security cooperation could be up in their discussion,” an official familiar with the visit told BSS.
