“Yunus got Hilary to stop World Bank funding for Padma Bridge”
Commerce minister Tofael Ahmed has said Nobel laureate professor Muhammad Yunus used his power in connection with former US secretary of State Hilary Clinton to stop World Bank funding for Padma Bridge.
He made the remark while addressing a program ‘Best Journalist Award-2015 of REHAB’ as the chief guest at CIRDAP auditorium on Wednesday.
The minister said that there should not be any doubt that Yunus has tried heart and soul to prevalence on the international organization to stop Padma Bridge funding.
Poverty would have been reduced for 3 crore people of the southern part of the country and GDP of the country would have increase 1.2 percent if the bank had funded for Padma Bridge on time, the minister added.
Meanwhile, earlier on when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina allege that Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus got Hilary to stop World Bank funding for padma bridge, Yunus Centre denied the allegation on 28 January.
Alamgir Shamsul Alamin presided over the program while lawmaker Nurun Nabi Chowdhury Shaon also present at the program as a key speaker. REHAB awarded 22 journalists for best reporting.
