National Social Service day being observed

The National Social Service Day is being observed in the country on Saturday.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have given message marking the day.

In his message, President M Abdul Hamid urged the Government and Non-Government Organizations to work together to render more social services to the people of the country.

Social Welfare department has also been running some 50 projects providing interest-free micro credits, safety allowances, accommodations and rehabilitations for disabled people for reducing poverty from the society, said the President.

In 2013, the government introduced the National Social Service Day as part of its country-wide program to reduce poverty providing maximum social facilities to the people.
