Ex-JP lawmaker held for Liton murder

Police on Tuesday arrested former Jatiya Party (Ershad) lawmaker of Gaibandha-1 constituency Abdul Kader Khan for his alleged involvement in the murder of Awami League lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton.

Ashraful Alam, superintendent of police (SP) of Gaibandha district, told BSS that a team of plainclothes police detained him from his clinic-cum-residence in Bogra town this afternoon.

He said police detained Khan as per the confessional statement of three others who were arrested recently.

The SP said six people were arrested till now in the connection of Liton murder.

Unknown miscreants shot Liton to death inside his home at Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha on December 31.
