President turns 73

President Abdul Hamid, who took over as the country’s 20th President on April 24 in 2013, turned 73 on Friday, BSS reports.

On this occasion, officials and employees of the President’s Office greeted Abdul Hamid at a simple ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban here.

Thanking all for the greetings, the President said, ‘I didn`t do politics for personal benefit. I spent my life for the welfare of the people. You all pray for me so that I can dedicate rest of my life for the welfare of the people’.

A munajat was offered on the occasion seeking divine blessings for long life of the President as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country.

Family members of the President were present.

Abdul Hamid was born on January 1, 1944 at Kamalpur in Mithamoin upazila of Kishoreganj district.
