Blogger Rajib killing: Death row convict arrested

The mastermind and death row convicted for the murder of blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider has been arrested with his aide.

A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Unit arrested Redwanul Azad Rana and his aide Ashraf from the city’s Uttara area around 2:00 pm on Monday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy commissioner Masudur Rahman confirmed it.

Rajib Haidar was hacked to death on February 15, 2013, at Mirpur in Dhaka.

A Dhaka court on December 31, 2015, handed down death penalty to two people -- Rana, 34, and Faisal Bin Nayem alias Dweep, 24, -- for killing Rajib. They have also been fined Tk 10,000 each.
