Agreement signed to improve standard of technical education

An agreement was signed between Directorate of Technical Education and TMSS Technical Institute (TTI) aiming to supplement the efforts of the government to improve standard of technical education.

Director General of Directorate of Technical Education Ashokh Kumar Biswas and TTI Principal Md Ahsan Habib signed the agreement at a function at the Women Polytechnic Institute on February 14, a press release said.

At the function, Dr Mokhlesur Rahman, a representative of World Bank, handed over the signing paper to Executive Director of TMSS Prof Dr Hosne Ara.

Under the agreement, the Skills and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) funded by the World Bank would extend its supports to TTI for enhancing quality of technical education.

The government has set a mission to raise the rate of technical and vocational education students 20 percent by 2020 to turn the country`s people into human resources, the education ministry sources said.

In 2008, the percentage of enrollment in technical education was around one percent, they said, adding now the enrollment increased to 14 percent, they added.
