BRTC has 1,538 buses: Quader
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has been giving services to passengers with 1,538 buses.
“Currently the state-run BRTC is providing passenger services to 78 upazilas in 31 districts with 994 buses, ” he said, while replying to a tabled question from treasury bench member Mahfuzur Rahman of Chittagong-3 in the House.
The minister said that there are 1,538 buses at this moment in the BRTC fleet, of which, 994 are operative.
Replying to another question from treasury bench member Dilara Begum, Quader said a total of 28,95,665 motor vehicles are registered, of which, 17,26,994 are motorcycles.
For improving the communications system with neighbouring country India, the present government is working sincerely as part of the sub-regional cooperation, he said while replying to another question from treasury bench member Wasika Ayesha Khan.
“Motor vehicles have been plying four routes with India currently and the government signed protocols and agreements for plying motor vehicles on those routes, the minister informed the House.
