No room for terrorism: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said terrorism and extremism have no room in the country as the law enforcers and intelligence agencies are working to root out the menaces.

“We would never allow terrorism and militancy to spread in the country. We are eliminating all terrorist activities by finding out those involved with such ills,” he told newsmen emerging from a review meeting on monthly crime of Khulna range at Naragati in the district.

The minister said the law enforcers were successful to conduct drives against the terrorists.

Kamal said restrictions on the entries into the country have been imposed for Bangladeshi born foreign citizens, who would be found involved with terrorism and militancy.

“If necessary, they will not be allowed to get entrances into the country,” he said. The minister said intelligence agencies and security forces started keeping surveillance on them (terrorists).

Kamal said no clemency would be shown to criminals and those who would create chaos in the society.

About the journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case, the minister said”Law enforcers are trying hard to find the true killers of the journalist couple. Hopefully, the killers will soon be identified,” he said.

Local Lawmaker Kabirul Haque Mukti, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Abdus Samad, Khulna Range Deputy Inspector General of Police SM Maniruzzaman, Khulna Police Commissioner Nibas Chandra Majhi, Narail Deputy Commissioner Md Helal Mahmud Sharif and Narail Superintendent of Police Sardar Rakibul Islam, among others, were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the minister distributed financial assistance to street beggars aiming at making Khulna division as street beggars free.
