Taskforce to be formed to oversee Ekushey Book Fair

A taskforce to oversee the ongoing month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair will be constituted tomorrow.

"A six-member taskforce will be formed by tomorrow. The committee will soon visit the fair to oversee the book stalls," the book fair organizing committee member-secretary Dr Jalal Ahmed told BSS.

The committee will comprise one person each from Bangla Academy, Cultural Affairs Ministry, Copyright Office Bangladesh and Police and two from publishing houses.

He said the committee will oversee whether any banned or pirated copies of book or other things that oppose the spirit of Liberation War, Independence and social values and hurt the religious sentiment, are being sold or not.

Ahmed said no harmful books or things can be allowed to sell as per the policy of the fair. "If any stall violates the policy, legal actions will be taken against it," he said.
