Journo murder: Mayor Miru sent to jail

A Sirajganj court has sent Shahjadpur municipal mayor, the prime accused of journalist Shimul murder case, to jail.

The Cognisance Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Morshed Alam passed the order at 2:30pm on Monday.

Confirming the matter, Court Inspector Sahidullah said the court asked to investigation officer to submit case documents to Shahjadpur court to decide on Miru’s remand.

In reply to a question, Mayor Miru said : It is a political conspiracy against me. I’m a victim. I didn’t kill the journalist. 

Miru was arrested from Shyamoli on Sunday night.

On February 2, journalist Shimul was hit by a bullet during a clash between factions of the Awami League at Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, died on February 3.
