Suranjit Sengupta’s body arrives Sylhet

The body of veteran politician and Awami League lawmaker Suranjit Sengupta, who died at Labaid hospital in the capital, arrived in Sylhet from Dhaka on Monday morning.

A helicopter carrying the body reached the Sylhet Osmani International airport at 10.45 am.

Chief Whip A.S.M. Feroz, State Minister of Finance M A Mannan, Organising Secretary of Awami Legaue Ahmed Hossain, Misbah Uddin Seraj, wife, and son of the deceased accompanied the coffin in the helicopter.

The body has been kept at Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar where people including politicians and cultural activists are paying their homage to Suranjit Sengupta.

Later, Suranjit’s body will be taken to his ancestral home in Derai upazila of Sumanganj for funeral.

It is mentionable that, Suranjit Sengupta died at Labaid hospital in Dhaka on Sunday after prolonged illness.
