Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has rescheduled a major programme of hers tomorrow for the convenience of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinees.

A Prime Minister’s office spokesman said the premier was scheduled to join the “E-9 Ministerial Meeting on Education” at Hotel Raddison Blu in the capital at 10 am tomorrow, a timing that coincided with the starting hour of the ongoing SSC examinations.

“But for the convenience of the movement of the SSC examinees, the honourable prime minister has deferred the function by 30 minutes,” PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan told BSS.

He said the function would now begin at 10.30 am, and the prime minister would start for the venue from her official Ganabhaban residence at 10.20 am after the entrance of the SSC examinees to the examination halls.

The PM’s deputy press secretary said the prime minister already directed her personal staff to re-fix the timing of other programmes that will be held on the examination days.

The three-day E-9 Ministerial Meeting on Education is set to kick off in the capital tomorrow with the theme “Education for the 21st century” E-9 countries.

E-9 groups Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria and Pakistan.

Representatives of the countries are taking part in the meeting to discuss their experiences in education, exchange best practices and monitor progress on achieving Education for All (EFA).

The meeting would focus on a specific theme for a two-year period to discuss measures to strengthen cooperation among the E-9 member countries.

Since its inception in 1993, the E-9 network has also become a powerful lobby for EFA and South-South cooperation.
