Bullet injured journo dies
A journalist, who was hit by a bullet during a clash between factions of the Awami League at Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, has died at 2pm on Friday.
Abdul Hakim Shimul, Shahjadpur correspondent for the Daily Samkal, hit by a bullet while he was covering the clash.
The journalist died while he was being transferred to Dhaka from Bogra for better treatment, said Shahjadpur upazila Chhatra League president Mahabub Wahid Kazol.
Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League have called a half-day hartal for Saturday in the upazila, protesting the incident.
It is mentionable that Hasibul Haq Pinto, brother of Shahjadpur Municipality Mayor Halimul Haq Miru, beat college Chhatro League president Bijoy Sheikh on Thursday.
Followers of Bijoy Sheikh held a procession and rushed to the home of the mayor. While they were about to reach the home, some ones threw stones at the mayor’s house from the procession.
The Mayor fired bullets from his shot-gun leaving three people injured. Of them, Shimul died.
