HC orders forming of monitoring cell for domestic workers
The High Court (HC) on Thursday ordered the government to form a monitoring cell in line with the concerned policy for the welfare of the domestic workers within six months.
“The court has ordered to form the cell in line with section nine of the Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Policy of Ministry of Labour and Employment,” said advocate Manjil Morshed.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order while disposing of a rule issued earlier in this regard.
The court had issued the rule following writ petition filed by rights group Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) in 2014.
