Shariatpur students forced to flank road to welcome minister

Several hundreds of students on Tuesday were forced to stand by the road to welcome a minister.

AKM Mozammel Haque, Liberation War Affairs Minister went to Gosairhat upazila of Shariatpur for opening liberation war complex building.

Witnesses said students from the six schools of the upazila were made to stand by the road from 9:30am to 11am.

We have been waiting for the minister from 9:30am. We can’t start class yet, said the students.

“We know this is not fair. But what can we do?,” asked a teacher. “We have to obey the orders of political leaders.”

However, The office secretary of Awami league Gosairhat upazila Abul Kalam defended the action.

“We came to greet our minister,” he said.

There’s nothing wrong here, he added.
