President failed to fulfill people’s expectations: Fakhrul

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Friday alleged that the President has failed to fulfill people’s expectations.

There is no option to consider this search committee non-partisan and neutral, Mirza Fakhrul said this while speaking over the search committee formed by President Abdul Hamid at the party’s Naya Paltan central office in Dhaka.

“Filled by those loyal to Awami League family, it will be not possible for this search committee to constitute a neutral next Election Commission,” Fakhrul said during the briefing.

“Our chairperson’s proposal on formation of the search committee has been ignored,” Fakhrul said, pulling reference to the charter of proposals BNP handed during their meeting with the president.

“The government wants for form another subservient Election Commission like the one led by incumbent Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad,” he added.
