BNP mayoral aspirant hacked in Dinajpur

A mayoral candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was hacked while returning home after election campaigning on Tuesday night at Birampur in Dinajpur.

The victim was identified as Azadul Islam Azad, 54, BNP nominated mayoral candidate of Birampur municipality.

Miscreants swooped on him behind Ansar-VDP office of Islampara of Birampur municipality around 11.00 pm.

Later, locals recovered him and rushed to Birampur Upazila Health Complex.

Mashiur Rahman, residential medical officer of the health complex, said as Azad sustained severe injury in his head, he was suggested to take Rangpur Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.

In this connection, Amiruzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Birampur Police Station, said police has already started drive to nab the assailants.
