 Death-row-convict ex-OC dies

The death-row-convict former officer-in-charge (OC) of Motijheel Police Station Rafiqul Islam Rafiq died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) around 11:30 pm on Tuesday night. He was 56.

Rafiq was awarded death sentence in the murder case of Kamrul Islam Momin, Assistant General Secretary of JSD Chhatra League Dhaka Metropolitan Unit.

In charge of DMCH police outpost Mozammedl Haque ensured the information to journalist.

JSD Chhatra League leader Momin was murdered over land feud on September 13, 2005.

On the day, Momin’s father filed a murder case against 26 people in this connection.

In the case, a court sentenced Rafiq among three to death and six others to life term imprisonment on July 20, 2011.
