CEC turned down army deployment demand

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed on Tuesday turned down BNP’s army deployment demand during the December 30 municipality polls.

CEC claimed that the situation has not come to the point that requires army deployment for the municipality polls.

He came up with the comment while talking to reporters at the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat this evening.

We want to ensure free and fair poll. We are taking every possible steps to ensure security during the election. There is no sign or information to us till now for deploying military during the municipality poll, he added.
