Bangladesh gets success in cultivating in saline soil

Bangladesh has succeeded in cultivating rice and wheat in saline soil in coastal area, said the chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry Md. Makbul Hossain.

He made this remark after attending the 20th meeting of the committee at National Parliament Building on Thursday.

The farmers are cultivating rice and wheat in 2,31,216 hectares of saline land across the country.

The committee suggested Agriculture Ministry to take initiative for increasing the retirement age of Agricultural Scientists.

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Md Abdur Razzak, Abdul Mannan, Md Mamunur Rashid Kiron, AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen, Md Nurul Islam Omar and Advocate Umme Kulsum, among others, were present at the meeting.
