ACC chief warns NBR officials against corrupt incomes

Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Iqbal Mahmood today warned the officials of ACC and NBR (National Board of Revenue) saying that punitive action will be ensured for corrupt individuals.

"If the ACC and NBR officials are involved in any acts of moral turpitudes, we will take tough measures against those," he told while speaking at a seminar on "Correction and Morality Affairs" at NBR Bhaban.

The NBR organized the seminar on its five-year strategic work plan at its conference room with ACC NBR Chairman Md Nojibur Rahman in the chair.

The ACC chairman said the national anti-graft body will show zero tolerance against corruption and no corrupt individual will be spared anyway.

"People have a common and negative idea about NBR and ACC officials and employees but now it is time to uphold the truth and ensure transparency in all spheres. And only you can change people`s mindset through your good deeds," Mahood observed.

He said the country would free from all sorts of corruptions if the bureaucracy becomes free from corruption in all steps.

Urging NBR officials to provide all-out cooperation to all ACC activities, Mahmood said, "We have to remain alert about the sources of money used in gambling at many parts of the country."

He stressed on the opening tax-file for each citizen and also removing the discrimination or disparity what NBR uses to show for the people of rural and urban areas.

The ACC chairman categorically said, "Only NBR can resolve this problem."

Senior officials of NBR and ACC, including director generals, directors and deputy directors, among others, spoke in the seminar.
