HC issues rule on bail for Rana
The High Court (HC) issued a rule asking the government to explain why the court shall not grant bail to Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana, prime accused in the case lodged over murder of his party man and Freedom Fighter Faruk Ahammed.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Sheikh Abdul Awal and Justice Md Khasruzzaman on Wednesday passed the order, accepting a plea of the defence.
Rana was sent to jail by a trial court as he surrendered before it on September 18, 2016. A Tangail court on September 26 rejected his bail plea.
The controversial lawmaker then filed an appeal with the High Court against that trial court order.
