No passenger-carrying on motorbikes

Government again forbade carrying passenger on bike following recent incidents of arson by drive-by miscreants during the blockade and Hartal in the country. Under the Motor Vehicle Act 1983, government slapped the ban until further notice.

A circular has been issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges notifying the ban on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (traffic-south) Khan Mohammad Rezwan told jagonews no punishment is mentioned in the order, but it has been prohibited to take passengers on the bikes till further order comes.
