Coal-laden vessel sinks near Sundarbans
A cargo vessel laden with coal sank near the world’s largest mangrove forest Sundarbans on Friday morning.
‘MV Aichgati’, carrying 1000 tonnes of coal, sank in Fareway buoy at the estuary of Bay of Bengal.
All the 14 people aboard were rescued and taken to safety, said coast guard Mongla west zone sources.
The lighterage vessel, unloading coal from the mother vessel, was heading to Mongla via Pashur River, said the media wing of coast guard.
