Broadcast law to finalize in 6 months

National Broadcast Law will be finalized within 6 months from now. Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu said this in reply to a question of ruling party MP Dherendra Debnath Shambhu at the parliament Tuesday.

The minister said a committee led by Professor Dr. Golam Rahman has been formed, which will submit the structure and function of the law within 60 days and a draft of the law within 90 days.

The draft will be published online to get feedback of the people. After that it will be placed at the parliament to pass as a law after the approval of the cabinet, he added.

The minister also said a chapter will be dedicated for the advertisement policy for the broadcast media within the National Broadcast law.

He, on answer to a question, said some Bangladeshi channels got entry to some parts of West Bengal, but government will keep negotiating on availing more Bangladeshi TV channels to reach the people there.
