No entry to Suhrawardy Udyan

The people including morning walkers and even worshipers are denied to enter Suhrawardy Udyan as the police have locked all entrance on Saturday morning.

BNP sought permission to hold a public rally at the Udyan on Saturday but Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) did not give the permission till Friday evening.

The party observes Jan 5 as the “Democracy Killing Day” to mark the general election in 2014, which was boycotted by BNP and its allies.

It Black-flag marches were held across the country, except Dhaka, on Thursday. The Dhaka programme is all about the planned rally.

But the members of law enforcing agencies have taken possession Suhrawardy Udyan and locked all entrance points.

A worshiper from Muhammadpur area was denied to go Kali Mandir, which is located in the Udyan.

Many elderly people come to Shurawardy Udyan for morning walk but they couldn’t do that on Saturday.

A police officer said, “Anyone will not be supposed to enter at Suhrawardy Udyan for next two or three days to avoid any untoward incidents by the activists of BNP.”
