Holiday market to reopen in capital

The authority of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will launch holiday market in the capital city as the dwellers can purchase their necessary things on public holidays Friday and Saturday.

The concern people believe that the lower income and the lower-middle income people will be the most beneficiaries as they will get clothes, cosmetic products, shoes and, household and daily necessary things in the temporary market.

This isn’t the first experience for Bangladesh as the caretaker government introduced holiday market in 2007. However, it wasn’t continued later.

Sources of DSCC said that they have taken the decision as per the direction of Prime Minister Office. In a letter from the office, the city corporation waw directed to select place for the market.

Basically, the government wants to bring hawkers back to a specific system, the sources said.
