Combined efforts must against drug-abuse: Kamal
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday said combined efforts are mandatory to curb drug-abuse as it is not a problem in Bangladesh only but also across the globe.
"Drug not only kills a man but also destroys a family," he told journalists at a press conference in a city hotel while releasing a film entitled "Sworgo Theke Norok", a film focused on "anti-drug abuse campaign".
He said about 70 lakh people are drug-addict and 80 percent, of them, are young while 50 percent are involved in various criminal activities.
Film director Arup Ratan Chowdhury, information secretary Mortuza Ahmed, Director General of Narcotics Control Department Khandker Rakibur Rahman and former chairman of Clinical Psychology Department of Dhaka University Prof Doctor Mahmudur Rahman, Psychiatrics Golam Rabbani and film actress Nipun, among others, spoke on the occasion.
