Traders claim DCC market fire was a sabotage
The leaders of shop owners association claimed that the fire at DCC market fire in Gulshan is a sabotage, though the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Anisul Haq termed it as an accident.
The organising secretary of Dhaka city shop owners association and joint secretary of DCC vegetable market shop owners association, Akhtaruzzaman said, “Someone set fire intentionally. It’s not an accident but sabotage.”
He also blamed firemen, “The firemen didn’t work sincerely. They couldn’t control fire in short order, though there was enough space to do that easily.”
“The city corporation is trying to evict us for a long time. They have given the market a developer company,” he added.
Vice-president of DCC vegetable market shop owners association Humayun Siddique said, “We want proper investigation. We have nothing else.”
A fire broke out at DCC market in Gulshan-1 of Dhaka that collapsed a portion of the two-storey market. The fire originated around 2:30am on Tuesday.
