Bangladesh protests Myanmar navy firing
Bangladesh government handed a strongly worded protest note to Myanmar over Wednesday’s firing on Bangladeshis at the Bay of Bengal that injured four fishermen.
Myanmar envoy Myo Myint Than was summoned at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs around 1pm on Thursday afternoon.
Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary (bilateral) Kamrul Ahsan handed a strongly worded protest to the Myanmar envoy during the meeting.
Earlier on November 23, the Bangladesh government summoned the Myanmar ambassador and conveyed deep concern at the continued deteriorating situation in the Rakhine state that caused influx in which thousands of distressed Myanmar’s citizens including women, children and elderly people entered into Bangladesh.
