Writ filed seeking stay on municipality polls
A writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking stay order on municipality polls to be held in 234 municipalities on December 30.
Barrister Ehsanur Rahman on behalf of Advocate Julfikar Ali filed the writ on Sunday.
The writ petition requested the court to issue a rule asking the government to explain why the announcement of the faulty polls schedule should not be declared illegal.
Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commission’s secretary, deputy secretary, law secretary and secretary of the local government were made defendants in the writ plea.
