JMB had planned to carry out attacks on 31st night: Police

Jama`atul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB), an outlawed militant organization, had planned to carry out attacks on the 31st night, on the eve of English New Year celebration.

Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTCU) Monirul Islam told journalists at a press conference at the DMP media centre here this afternoon where he described detailing about the arrest of five JMB operatives from Darus Salam area last night.

"In the preliminary interrogation the detainees admitted that they had planned to carry out attacks on the 31st night, during New Year celebration," Monirul said.

The other arrestees are Mohammad Riaz alias Engineer alias Rakib, Md Abu Bin Sayeem alias Bappi alias Opu, Kazi Abdullah Al Osman alias Ahsan, Md Sohag alias Chairman and Md Mamun alias Himel.

"Police also seized 30kg explosives and huge jihadi books from them," The CTTCU added.

A case was filed with concerned police station.
