Former BTRC vice chairman dies

Giasuddin Ahmed who served as BTRC vice chairman from Sept 2012 to July 2014, died on Sunday night. He was 67.

His daughter, Nahid Ahmed, confirmed the journalist of his demise, naming pneumonia as the cause. He died at 9pm at the CMH in Dhaka.

Ahmed was a freedom fighter and a former secretary to the government.

His brother-in-law Nizamuddin Mahmud said his Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at the field next to Tejgaon Elenbarhi Government Staff Quarter mosque on Tuesday.

He will be buried at his village in Feni’s Fulgazi on Wednesday, Mahmud said.
