President holds talks with Jasad today on EC formation

President Abdul Hamid will hold discussion with Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Inu) on Monday as part of his move to take opinion of registered political parties over the formation of new Election Commission (EC).

"Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President and information minister Hasanul Haq Inu will lead the 15-member delegation in today`s discussion with the President to be held at 4 pm at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban," President`s press secretary Joynal Abedin said.

President Abdul Hamid initiated formal talks with political parties over the formation of the new EC and held his first discussion with BNP on December 18.

He also held discussion with Jatiya Party, Liberal Democratic Party and Krishak Sramik Janata League.

The tenure of Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led EC expires in February next.

The meeting with Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal was scheduled to be held on December 22. But it is rescheduled following a request from the party as its President Hasanul Haq Inu, also information minister, was out of the country at that time on an official visit.
