BCL leader goes missing in Rajshahi

A leader of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has gone missing.

Family members of Saifuzzaman Sohag, a fourth year mechanical engineering students at RUET, was picked up from his house at Terokhadia

Paschimparha in the city’s Rajparha by some persons who claimed they were from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Sohag is the information and research secretary of the BCL`s RUET unit. But RAB denies any raid to nab Sohag and police says they have no knowledge of his detention.

RUET`s BCL General Secretary Touhidur Rahman Himel said they have heard about Sohag`s disappearance.

He said, we have asked Chhatra League activists to find out what happened. To the best of my knowledge, Sohag did not have problems with anyone.

RUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Rafiqul Alam Beg, however, said he had not heard of Sohag`s disappearance.

Sohag’s father has filed a general diary at Rajparha Police Station over his son`s disappearance.

RAB-5`s Deputy Commander Maj ‘Salam’ told that they had not conducted any raid to nab Sohag.
