More than 19 boats carrying Rohingyas pushed back

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent 19 boats carrying about 200 Rohingya people back to Myanmar at two different points of Naf River in Cox’s Bazar.

BGB members prevented the trespassing of Rohingyas from Friday evening to Saturday noon.

Teknaf 2 BGB Commander Lt Col Abujar Al Zahid said that BGB patrol boats stopped those 19 boats while they were trying to enter Bangladesh territory.

“There were 10 to 15 Rohingyas in each boat. We stopped them when they were trying to enter Bangladesh,” he said.

Bangladesh border security forces have been struggling in the last couple of weeks as Rohingy Muslim minority groups in Myanmar’s Rakhine state have been fleeing their country amid persecution by the military. Thousands of Rohingya Muslims tried to enter Bangladesh in the last few weeks.
