Victory Festival of Bangladesh to be held in India

The Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in India will organize a five-day festival in Kolkata on the occasion of the victory day of Bangladesh.

The `Victory Festival of Bangladesh` will begin from Thursday at Netaji Indoor Stadium and it will continue till December 19.

Paschimbanga Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will attend the function as the chief guest while Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will be present as special guest on the occasion.

The main discussion on the importance of the Victory Day will be held on December 16, said a University Grant Commission (UGC) release on Wednesday.

UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan will deliver the keynote speech on this occasion.

Films made on Liberation War also will be screened during the festival. Traditional Bangladeshi saris including Jamdani, Tangail Tant and Rajshahi Silk will be put on display.

Besides, Jute, Jute products, handicrafts and other exportable goods will be exhibited in the festival.
