SC commuted death penalty of top terror Joseph

The Appellate Division of Supreme Court on Wednesday commuted death sentence of top terrorist Tofayel Ahmed Joseph to life imprisonment.

The Appellate Division Bench of SC comprising three justices led by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the hearing.

The court also acquitted another accused of the case, Kabil Sarkar, after granting his petition for acquittal.

The case was filed in 1996 on the charge of murdering a Freedom Party leader Mustafizur Rahman of Dhaka’s Mohammadpur.
