‘Robber’ killed in Kushtia ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber was killed and four others suffered bullet wounds in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Barmail in Bheramara upazila early Monday.

The deceased is Abdus Salam and injured people are Delwar, Aynal , Khokon and Alamgir. They all are the members of inter-district robber gang.

Confirming the matter to Jagonews24.com, Mosaddek Ibne Mujib, company commander of RAB-12 said that they also recovered a foreign revolver, a foreign pistol and eight rounds of bullets from the spot.

According to source, Tipped off that a robber gang boarded a bus of ‘Hanif Paribahan’ on Kushtia-Ishwardi road to commit robbery, a Rab team conducted a drive in the area around 1.30am.

The ‘robbers’ opened fire on them when the RAB members obstructed the bus in the area for search prompting them to retaliate triggering a gunfight.

At that five people were injured and sent to Kushtia General Hospital where the doctors declared one dead.
