WB to increase assistance to education sector
World Bank (WB) is interested to further increase their assistance to the education sector in Bangladesh.
This was disclosed by World Bank’s senior director Amot Dhar when he called on Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at his secretariat office in Dhaka on Sunday.
Dhar, who led a seven-member delegation during the visit, expressed their satisfaction over successful completion of different projects in education sector within the stipulated time. He said that Bangladesh would get further assistance due to its successful projects implementation.
During the meeting, they discussed overall activities in education sector between the Bangladesh and the World Bank. The delegation also expressed satisfaction over attaining of gender balance in primary and secondary education.
The education minister said there is excellent relation between Bangladesh and the World Bank in education sector and expressed the hope that assistance would be strengthened in this respect.
World bank Dhaka office`s senior economists Saurav Dev Bhatta, Dr. Shiro Nakata and Dr. Dilip Parajuli and senior operation officer Dr Moklesur Rahman were included to the delegation.
Secretary to the secondary and higher secondary department M Shohrab Hossain, additional secretary Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed, director of different education projects and high officials of the ministry were present.
